India hammer England 5-3 for second win in a row at the Junior Hockey World Cup: As it happened
India continued their dominant show at the Junior Hockey World Cup by beating England 5-3 for the second win on the trot in Lucknow. Earlier, on the opening day, India had dispatched Canada by 4-0.
India didn’t get off to the best of starts after a defensive collapse handed England the lead. From then on, till the 67th minute of the game, it was all India. Goals by Parvinder Singh, Armaan Qureshi, Harmanpreet Singh, Simranjeet Singh and Varun Kumar gave India a 5-1 lead before a drop in concentration allowed England back in. Will Calnan and Edward Horler scored to make it 5-3 to force some nervous moments late on but the lead was enough for the win.
